Contact: Megan Bykowski
mbykowski@stephanbrady.com

MADISON, Wis. (June 1, 2010) – The Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation donated $5,000 to the League of Miracles, Inc., in Mooresville, Ind. on May 26. The League of Miracles is a not-for-profit corporation formed to create a sports complex specifically designed for people with special needs and their families to safely participate in recreational opportunities.

The League of Miracles sports complex is designed to provide a level playing field for people with physical, emotional, learning and mental challenges. Phase I of the complex features a specially installed rubber turf field, offering a forgiving and even playing surface accessible to children and adults with motor disabilities to walk, run or use assistive devices such as walkers and wheelchairs. Initially, the League of Miracles will focus on serving children ages five through early teens from Morgan County, Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. As participation grows, adult leagues will be added. The donation from the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation will help the complex purchase equipment for softball and soccer programs starting this summer.

“The League of Miracles recognized the desire children and adults with special needs have to play organized sports,” said Andrew Greenwood, secretary of the League of Miracles. “Building our facility is the first step; but we rely heavily on donations like those from the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation to help us purchase sports equipment to support our recreational programs.”

Remaining true to the company vision to “serve the communities where we work and live,” the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation, Inc. has donated nearly $1 million to various charities and organizations in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin since its inception in 2002. Each year, grants totaling $100,000 are awarded throughout the communities where the Gordon Flesch Company does business.

“The Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation represents a spirit of generosity that has been part of our culture since the beginning,” said Barb Anderson, president of the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation. “It is a reflection of the company’s awareness that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

The Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation, Inc. is led by a board of six employee volunteers. The charities are selected from nominations submitted by individual associates throughout the Gordon Flesch Company. Organizations, large and small, that provide assistance to those suffering from disease or recovering from disaster are given priority attention.

Experts in office equipment, technology products, leasing and onsite services, the Gordon Flesch Company has been in business for more than 50 years. As one of the nation’s largest independent digital office equipment dealerships, the company employs more than 600 people throughout 20 offices in the Midwest.
